GVF — The Nobel Women’s Initiative on Wednesday called for the “unconditional release” of the leaders of Iran’s opposition Green Movement Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mahdi Karoubi and Zahra Rahnavard.
Two weeks before a fresh round of protests by Iran’s opposition Green Movement, citizens are increasingly using public spaces such as phone booths, bank notes, libraries, classrooms and even walls of Basij bases to spread news about the upcoming demonstrations on 14 February. GVF — Nearly 2,000 members of Iran’s film community have voiced their protest against the Iranian government’s decision to ban the House of Cinema, an independently run organisation that promotes the film industry.
GVF — Iran’s opposition Green Movement has called for fresh protests on 14 February, just three days after Iran marks the 33rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
In a strongly worded private letter to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Iran’s most senior political figure Ahmad Sadr Haj-Seyed Javadi called for an end to the house arrest of opposition leaders Mir Hosseib Mousavi and Mahdi Karroubi, as well as the impeachment of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for misconduct as president.
GVF — Iranian authorities should be held accountable for their inability to deal with the terrorist threat inside the country, the Green Movement’s highest decision-making body said on Monday.
Security forces have been rounding up activists and journalists in recent days.
