‏Human rights activist Narges Mohammadi hospitalised following raid on home

GVF — ‏Following a raid on the home of political activist Taghi Rahmani on Wednesday night‪,‬ his wife Narges Mohammadi has suffered a nervous breakdown and has been taken to Tehran's Iranmehr hospital.

‏According to the Persian service of the German Deutsche Welle news channel‪,‬ a member of the Rahmani family said that ‪Narges Mohammad suffered a nervous breakdown after witnessing the arrest of her husband by security forces on Wednesday night. The traumatic experience took place as their children also bore witness to the scene of the raid. Ms Mohammad was finally hospitalised on Thursday morning. ‬

‏‪Narges Mohammadi ‬is a human rights activist, a journalist, Deputy Director of Defenders of Human Rights Centre, Operations Manager of Iran Peace Council, and former member of the Iran Alumni‪ ‬Association’s Policy Council. She was detained on 10 June 2010 and released on 1 July 2010‪ after a severe deterioration of her ‬health‪.‬ Following her release‪,‬ she spent a month in hospital to undergo medical treatment‪.‬

‏Prior to her the raid on her home last night‪,‬ she had been undergoing treatment‪.‬

‏Her husband‪,‬ Taghi Rahmani is a political activist and since the Islamic Revolution, has spent a total of seventeen years in prison.‬ He was also arrested following the fraudulent 2009 presidential election‪ but was released after a few days of detention.
