GVF -- A senior aide to opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi has been released from prison.
According to the reformist Kaleme website, Alireza Beheshti Shirazi was released on a bail of more than $500,000.
Beheshti was arrested a day after of the bloody opposition protests on 27 December 2009.
Beheshti Shirazi is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war during which Mir Hossein Mousavi was Iran's prime minister. At the time of Mousavi's premiership, Beheshti was the Secretary of State. During Mousavi's 20 years of absence from the political scene, Beheshti Shirazi continued to pursue his cultural activities. His return to the realm of politics was the direct result of Mousavi's decision to enter the 2009 presidential race as one of Mousavi's top advisers.
