Father of murdered doctor: 'Find my son's killers'

GFV -- The father of murdered doctor of Kahrizak detention centre has called on authorities to find the real killers of his son. He also stated that a vague response was given to them by forensics following the family's inquiries.

Reza Gholi Pourandarjani said that “we have issued a complaint and want the killer to be identified and tried and we will follow up our complaint.”

Mr Pourandarjani is the father of a doctor at the notorious Kahrizak detention centre who was suspiciously found dead following scandals concerning post-election prisoner deaths at the camp.

“Forensics have said that Ramin died due to poisoning, but this opinion is very ambiguous and we cannot accept this theory. They should explain how he was poisoned and by whom,” Mr Pourandarjani said, while maintaining that he would try to pursue the case into his son’s death through legal means and would not politicise the matter.

In speaking with an Iranian website on 16 December, the father of the murdered doctor said that the family had not heard anything regarding their son’s case and that no one was being responsive to their inquiries. “No one came back to us, and no reply has been given until now.”

He also expressed his discontent at those who refer to his son as the “Kahrizak doctor.” “My son was [only] doing his military service and he was serving his country; he was not an official employee of the police forces and we urge this term not to be used when referring to our son.”
