GVF -- Professor Mohammad Maleki, the first post-revolution president of Tehran University and a political activist has been accused of Moharebeh (warring against God) which is punishable by death.
His lawyer Mohammad Sharif spoke to Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA) about the latest developments surrounding his client’s case. He told ILNA that his client had been released last week on a bail of around 100,000 dollars.
“My client has been accused of Moharebeh due his alleged links with illegal organisations and in reference to clause 186 of the Islamic Penal Code.”
According to Malekis’s lawyer says that he is being accused of insulting Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and propagating against the Islamic Republic. He also expressed hope that his client would be able to attend a hearing into his case on 13 April despite his serious health conditions.
Regarding the cases of two other political prisoners he is representing (Zaidabadi and Masoud Bastani), Sharif said that he was not able to meet with the head of the Justice Administration of Iran in order to discuss their cases today.
