Kamran Asa; brother of slain protester arrested

GVF -- Kamran Asa, brother of one of the slain victims of last year’s post-election violence Kianoush Asa, has been arrested in the city of Kermanshah last night.

According to the Kalame website, Kamran Asa was arrested by Intelligence Ministry forces at midnight 10 June as he was returning to his home in the Western Iranian province of Kermanshah. In addition, early this morning, five intelligence agents showed up at Asa’s house and confiscated his personal possessions. Before leaving the house, the agents were confronted with the tears of Kamran’s mother and told her: “It is yours tears that provoke Kamran!” When asked about the reason for his arrest, they implied that it was to teach him a lesson!

Kamran Asa’s family are currently concerned about the condition of their son and have no information about where he is being detained. This is the second time he has been imprisoned. He was previously jailed on 7 December and held in prison for two months before he was released on bail.

The Asa family are just one among many families who have suffered greatly in the year after last June’s rigged election.
