Journalist Hengameh Shahidi arrested again

GVF -- Women’s rights activist and journalist Hengameh Shahidi was arrested today by the intelligence ministry for the second time in recent months.

Her lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei has written in his weblog that he does not know about the reason for her arrest.

Shahidi had been summoned a number of times by the intelligence ministry following her release on 1 November, and was finally arrested again today.

She was initially arrested on 30 June and was released on 1 November on a bail of more than ninety thousand US dollars. She had gone on hunger strike while in prison.

The accusations against her included: taking part in illegal gatherings, acting against national security, propagating against the Islamic Republic, disrupting public order and insulting the president.
