Ten students from the Iran University of Science and Technology, who had been arrested, were released last week. Five of those students had been arrested on the 27th of December and the other half on the 29th.
The students were arrested following an organised attack by Basij and plain-clothed militia against university students and were detained in the notorious Evin prison for five weeks. The names of the students are as follows:

5. Hadi Najafi
6. Majid Asghari
7. Ali Sedighi
8. Pouya Hamdollahi
9. Mostafa Rismanbaf

Two days after the bloody clashes of 27 December, the students at Iran University of Science and Technology staged protests demanding the release of Kamran Asa whose brother was killed following the stolen June 12 presidential election. The protests were turned into a bloody onslaught against the protesting students. Following the brutal clampdown, tens of students were arrested on the 29th and 30th of December with the full compliance of the university’s own security staff. The students were then taken to Haft-Hoz and Farjam police stations and a mosque by the name of Vahdat and subsequently beaten up.
