GVF -- The head of Mir Hossein Mousavi’s 2009 presidential election campaign has been temporarily released from prison after nine months of imprisonment.
According to the Kaleme website, Ghorban Behzadian Nejad was released on bail last night from Evin prison. The senior advisor to Mousavi was arrested on 28 December, a day after the bloody Ashura protests.
Behzian Nejad was recently sentenced to five years in prison as well as a fine of more than $100.
It should be noted the among the series of abnormalities surrounding Behzadian Nejad’s case was the fact that he had been “temporarily” held in prison for eight months before the mentioned ruling.
In a rare move, Behzadian Nejad was suspended of all academic activities until a final judiciary decision was issued by the court. He had been a professor at the prestigious Tarbiat Modares University (Teachers Training School) prior to his arrest. Behzadian Nejad is a distinguished expert in the field of bacteria at his university and has a PhD in Microbiology. Authorities had previously deprived him from receiving his salary.
