GVF -- A group of masked men on motorbikes have vandalised the entrance to the house of pro-reform scholar Ayatollah Dastgheib in city of Shiraz.
According to the Kaleme website, at 2:30am on Wednesday, a group of indentified men daubed the entrance to the house of Ayatollah Dastgheib with paint and quickly fled the scene afterwards.
This latest act of vandalism comes after the Ayatollah made a much publicised speech at Ghoba mosque. According to media reports, following last week’s Friday prayers, a gathering was held against the cleric and on Monday, a similar assembly took place in front of the Governor’s office in the city of Shiraz which culminated with a pro-government speech by the governor himself.
The governor of Fars province had previously cautioned Ayatollah Dastgheib against making statements or speeches against the role of Velayat Faghih (or Guardianship of the Jurisprudence, a position held by the Supreme Leader) saying that “if certain people have expressed their [anti-government] opinions, there is a chance that with the people’s self-restraint, they will be forgiven.”
