Iranian fighter jet crashes in south-west Iran

GVF -- A military aircraft belonging to the Iranian Air Force has crashed close to the southern city of Bushehr in south-western coast of Iran on Friday, but the pilots were able to safely eject before impact.

The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported that the crash took place five kilometres from the important city on the Persian Gulf. Mehr quoted a provincial official as saying that the incident took place at 10:10am local time on Tuesday close to the Special Economic Zone in the coastal region.

Gholamreza Keshavarz added that the two pilots on the F4 fighter jet were able to safely eject and survive the crash. They have now been transferred to a hospital in the city of Bushehr.

There is currently no further information on the details of the crash or the names of the two hospitalised pilots.
