The following is a piece by Parastoo Sarmadi wife of Hossein Nouraninejad—one of the prisoners on hunger strike in Evin prison’s ward 350.It is it titled, “Stay alive and well for Iran”.
“It’s been 12 days since our beloved prisoners started their hunger strike. We know for sure that they have great souls and strong beliefs, but their bodies need food and this hunger strike will bring serious harm to their bodies.”
Sarmadi adds, “We are very much concerned about their health. Our only request from the very beginning was that the authorities return them to ward 350. We just want to contact and tell them to end their hunger strike; nevertheless, we are aware of their rights.”
She then asks, “Is this request so big that it is denied and such a crisis which may lead to a disaster is allowed to happen?”
“Is this a big request to let the worried mothers (who have so far been threatened not to speak about their children) to contact their children to convey the message of their people, to tell them that this country needs great men like them to have a prosperous future and to urge them to be strong for all of us.”
In the end, Sarmadi asks, “Is it such a big request to ask to speak to our loved-ones and to convey the message of Mir Hossein Moosavi, Zahra Rahnavard, Sohrab Erabi’s Mother, Women Movement activists, Rajayi Shahr political prisoners, women political prisoners in the women’s ward of Evin and all the people and friends who have now become the families of the prisoners and tell them to stay alive and healthy for Iran?”
