Prisoner update: Activist Rasoul Badaghi sentenced to 6 years in prison, barred from social activity

GVF -- The 15th branch of the revolutionary court has sentenced political activist and a member of the board of director's of the Teachers Guild, Rasoul Badaghi to six years in prison and a five-year ban on all social activities.

According to Bamdad News, one of the six years in question is for “propagating against the establsiment” and the other five years are for “colluding and assembly with the intention to disrupt national security”.

His lawyer Masoud Shafei said that the sentence was disproportionate and vowed to appeal the court’s unjust decision. Badaghi has in prison since 1 September 2009.
