A day after Ahmadinejad's call for TV debate with Obama
GVF -- A day after Ahmadinejad invited US President Barack Obama to face him in a televised one-on-one debate; five imprisoned Iranian journalists have now called for a press conference with Ahmadinejad in which he would the illegitimate “president” would be required to answer certain question regarding his administration’s past performance.
According to sources close to the Jaras opposition website, Issa Saharkhiz, Rafei, Mahdi Mahmoudian, Masoud Bastani and Heshmatollah Tabarzadi called on Ahmadinejad engage with them in a debate on the issue of his government’s performance.
Speaking among a group of Iranian expats, Ahmadinejad said, “Each year when we came t New York to take part in the United Nations General Assembly, we announced that we were prepared to engage in a debate with George Bush before the media. Then they stated that Bush had said that he was afraid of debates; we said that it’s no problem, he can bring his advisors for the debate too.”
“We will offer our solutions for world issues to see whose solutions are better.”
Since the beginning of his presidency in 2005, “President” Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for televised debates with world leaders, while at the same time; he has avoided numerous calls by Iranian politicians and journalists to engage in any form of debate. He even refuses to provide reports to the Iranian Parliament or to implement bills passed by the belittled Majlis, something which he is obliged to do under the Iranian constitution. Furthermore, the tyrant has also chosen not to appear at the Expediency Discernment Council.
Despite Ahmadinejad’s great willingness and thirst to conduct interviews with foreign media, he does not show the same amount of enthusiasm and confidence when it comes to facing journalists from his own country.
