Veteran journalist and human rights activist Keyvan Samimi returns to prison

GVF -- Human rights activist and journalist Keyvan Samimi returned to prison this morning to complete a six-year prison sentence.

According to the Committee of Human Rights Reporters, Samimi was found guilty of causing anxiety among the public and colluding and assembling to act against national security. The veteran activist was subsequently sentenced to six years in prison as well as a life-long ban on any form of social and political activities. 

He had been temporarily released for the Iranian New Year on a bail of more than $100,000. He had to return to Evin prison following the authorities' refusal to extend his short release.
