GVF -- The governor of Tehran has announced that the massive march of the Iranian people that took place on 15 June in protest against the election coup was actually held with legal authorisation.
This means that many people arrested for taking part in the marches of that day were actually not committing any illegal act according to the governor’s recent comments.
The Parliament News website reported that in an interview with an Iranian magazine, Morteza Tamaddon, governor of Tehran, said that “they [those against the election result] requested authorisation for holding a protest, and we issued it. The march on 15 June was legal. Not only did they come with authorisation but we even assisted in keeping order during the demonstration.”
Many of those arrested following the fraudulent June election were detained for their participation in the 15 June marches, including former Tehran mayor Morteza Alviri who received a one-year sentence for his being in the crowd which according to some estimates was more than three million.
